(Simply put, it depends on the impedance of the power-using device (external resistance) as well as the internal impedance of the power adapter (internal resistance) I=U/(R internal + R external)).

The (maximum) output current of the power adapter actually characterizes its internal resistance (the higher the output current, the smaller the internal resistance, which means that the adapter itself consumes less power and can be used for external power). Therefore, the key to exchange use depends on the nominal input current of the power device. If the nominal input current of the device is less than the output current of the power adapter, then it can be used. Otherwise, it can't be carried, but it won't damage the equipment.
